15 years ago, like many of my Ukrainian friends and colleagues who were struggling with the societal and economic upheaval resulting from the dissolution of the USSR, I found myself faced with a choice: give in to despair, or start doing something. Many people were taking the largest bags they could find to Poland and Romania, buying goods for lower prices and selling them at home for a profit. I tried doing this, and began selling sunflower oil and nylons, which were luckily hard to come by at that time.
As a design engineer with 22 years of honest service for my socialist homeland, I was 44 years old and was earning $20 a month. I had two daughters. My oldest was engaged to be married in two months, and we were trying to prepare for the wedding; meanwhile, my youngest daughter had just graduated from high school and dreamed of becoming a veterinarian. These important pursuits required money, but I had none, and I was very depressed. It was at this time that one of my friends told me about a business that wouldn’t require me to invest my own money and may be able to help me earn enough to sustain myself and my family. I had nothing to lose, so without any doubt, I began to work.
I was immediately impressed with the company’s founder, Tom Mower, and what he called Marketing of Mutual Support. This concept filled me with energy and enthusiasm, and a dream began to grow inside of me- visit Utah, a place where an incredible person like Tom Mower had achieved such great success. Three months later, Tom came to visit Kiev.
The first time we met, I was mesmerized – I stood with him on stage as he talked about products that convinced me even more that this was a tremendous opportunity. He would visit Ukraine two or three times a year, conducting Distributor Universities and providing training on the products and his Marketing of Mutual Support, which had intrigued me initially. He also spoke at several medical conferences, his charisma and magnetic personality attracting people everywhere he went. Tom has such unbelievable energy, and he compels you to change your beliefs and opinions in such a way as to improve your life.
In 1997 I was able to attend a cruise to Cyprus, Israel, and Egypt, where Tom personally demonstrated some of the new technology he had helped devise for health and beauty. In 1998, I had another opportunity to attend a convention in Nashville, Tenessee, and another in Atlanta in 1999, where I received my first Top Recruiter Award. I was in Prague in 2000, Salt Lake City in 2001, and then in Sudak in 2002, I received the President’s Cup award for my efforts in building my business.
Thanks to the opportunity offered by Tom Mower, I went from a state of uncertainty and doubt, to being a highly successful top leader that had made a difference in the lives of many people. When Tom came to us with his new company, I felt great joy and pride, knowing that the success I had achieved previously could be surpassed with Sisel International! Working with Sisel has already brought me greater success, as well as new inspirations and aspirations.
